Project Info
During the spring semester of 2020, I was a production designer for a student run organization at Syracuse University called The University Union. The University Union is the official programming board of Syracuse University. The job of the organization is facilitating and hosting large scale concert events including our annual Juice Jam festival in September and Mayfest and Block Party in April. As a Production Designer, my role was to design all promotional advertisements, t shirts and merchandise graphics, and social media graphics. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, my time in this rule was extremely altered. The university closed campus in early March 2020, so none of these events happened. However we were still tasked with designing promotional items for the organization
PA Show Spring 2020
Every semester the union hosts a PA show, where they bring in a comedian to perform to a paid student and faculty audience. For the PA show of spring 2020 the organization secured John Mulaney, a comedian who has several Netflix stand up specials and has been on shows such as Big Mouth and Saturday Night Live. Our brief was to create a printed poster to highlight John Mulaney's "retro" comedic style.

Mayfest 2020
Mayfest is a day time music festival and gathering that typically happens at the end of second semester. At the time when the brief was given to us, the union had secured electric pop singer Rhia. The brief was create posters that were inspired a 1990s noir combined with 1960s psychedelic posters. In order to keep the setlist confidential, the posters were created without a setlist until the final day of editing.

Block Party 2020
Block Party is an evening concert that follows Block Party that is typically held in either the Carrier Dome or the Oncenter in Syracuse. At the time when the brief was given to us, the union had secured rapper Lil Uzi Vert to perform. Lil Uzi Vert's aesthetics is futurist so the brief was to create outerspace themed promotions, inspired by Kayne West's Graduation album cover art. In order to keep the setlist confidential, the posters were created without a setlist until the final day of editing.
