Project Info
This was an homage piece to the 24 hours of Le Mans race. I incorporated my understanding of kinetic laws and redesigned the timepiece that defined racing. This is an accurately timed seconds clock based off of the famous Tag Heuer Monaco watch, used at the 24 hour Le Mans during the late ‘60s and early ‘70s. The clock is run off a 9v Dc electric motor, connected to a gearbox I made. I had to gear down the motor from twenty four to one revolution per minute, in order to have an accurately timed 60 seconds. To do that I had to gear down the motor, with a set gear ratio, and then connect it to a driver gear and shaft. The pink gear is the driver gear, which spins the hand. The gearbox is set between two pieces of acrylic, the bezels of the clock. The back bezel is clear acrylic with the Porsche crest engraved into the back. The front bezel is a minimized design of the actual face of the Tag Heuer Monaco watch, including engraving of the time markers and chronograph windows
