Project Info
For this project the objective was simple, design a two bedroom, one and half bath, with a some sort of outdoor deck, on a mountain site in Truckee California. There was a lot of creative freedom, but being mindful that more square footage would mean more trees cut down on the site. My intent for the cabin was to design a floor plan that would maximize the scenic living, indoor and outdoor. I arranged the bedrooms to be on the western side of the house allowing for the eastern side, the view side, to be the common room areas. This allows the kitchen and living room to have a non restricted view. I designed a wrap around deck that goes from the front porch around to the master bedroom, promoting an enhanced outdoor living area. The dining room features bi-folding doors, giving the option of having an indoor or outdoor dining experience.
